"Can you think of any other organisation on the planet in 2005 that is actively and formally attempting to remove democratic rights and return them to an oligarchy? Even Robert Mugabe, devising his new, oppressive constitution for his country, is not actually abolishing the franchise."
- Charles Moore in today's Telegraph
On the day that Charles Moore joined the campaign to protect democracy in the Conservative Party conservativehome has published a ten point briefing on that campaign. Readers might like to send the briefing to any Constitutional Convention members who are still weighing up how to vote...
I'll report later on anything that comes out of today's Convention meeting.
Who is going to scrutinise the counting of the constitutional convention ballot? The process must be open and transparent with a full discloure of how Parliamentarians and the consyituency chairmen voted.
Robin Hodgson and his co-signatories would be excellent scrutineers for the pro-democracy wing of the Party. Their motives could not be questioned.
