With the Council of Mortgage lenders having this morning released figures showing that there were 40,000 repossessions in 2008 - and predicting 75,000 repossessions in 2009 - shadow housing minister Grant Shapps is giving a practical response to the news.
He is today launching the Conservatives' Repossession Advice Pack, which aims to help home-owners who are worried about paying their mortgages.
Mr Shapps said:
“Tens of thousands of people face the prospect of repossession this year and there will be even more who are privately worried. We wanted to do something really practical to help and so got together with housing, mortgage and debt counselling experts to produce the Repossessions Advice Pack."
The pack will be available to download from the Conservative Party website shortly - and I will link to it when it is.
Update: You can dowload the pack here

Conservatives' Repossession Advice Pack?
Does nobody look at acronyms before they launch these ideas? At work in the recent past we've had a Consolidated Resource Allocation Plan and a Fast Action Response Team

Well spotted Paul D. The advice itself is pretty sound though and will be welcomed by those who are getting into trouble.

As someone with some experience of the legal aspect of this I am surprised to say, upon reading it, that it is in fact not a load of Conservative Repossession Advice Pack but an excellent document for which CCHQ should be congratulated.

As long as I don't have to service somone elses' mortgage or car re-payments, they can do what they like.
