The best poverty fighting organisations are employers, who give people (who would otherwise have no income) money for coming into work and doing stuff.

The DWP does a lot.

I agree Mark that businesses are indispensable agents of social justice.

Friendly Societies, if any still exist.

I should have thought Credit Unions which teach responsible lending and borrowing and work as the early Building Societies did with members being accountable to members.
