YouTube has a fantastic assortment of political videos - many funny, many serious.
Here are a dozen of my favourite trips down memory lane...
- 0min 44sec: Margaret Thatcher explaining the sinking of the Belgrano during the Falklands War (unwavering)
- 0min 21sec: Ronald Reagan's 'I won't exploit my opponent's youth and inexperience' remark against Walter Mondale (classic)
- 0min 28sec: The Morning in America advert for Reagan 1984 (the opposite of this)
- 9min 29sec: BBC1's coverage of Mrs Thatcher's resignation (historic)
- 0min 28sec: John Redwood trying to sing the Welsh national anthem (embarrassing)
- 0min 17sec: A drugged-up Boris Yeltsin dancing during his final Russian presidential campaign (unbelievable)
- 1min 36 sec: John Major with his peas (Spitting Image)
- 0min 24 sec: Bill Clinton denying he had sex with Monica Lewinsky (deceitful)
- 3min 14sec: Rudy Giuliani's 9/11 interview (impressive)
- 9min 52sec: George W Bush appears alongside a George W Bush impersonator at the White House correspondents dinner (hilarious)
- 1min 16sec: Bush and Blair declare their love for one another (naughty but very funny)
- 1min 44sec: Cameron and Blair / Blair and Cameron (satirical)
What does YouTube mean for politics? See Rolling Stone, Glenn Reynolds on TechCentralStation.com and The New York Times.
John Redwood was not at all making a fool of himself.
He was making a first step in prising England from the yoke of the celtic nations.

Hmmm, not enough time to look at these now, but I definitely will tomorrow. Need to catch up on sleep...

That yoke which means that the poor English have a mere 82% of the seats in Parliament?
If one is responsible for a certain realm or territory, it is only reasonable that one speaks the native language.

The "Changes" one with DC and Blair is classic. For all those Heffer lovers/haters out there, this is highly disconcerting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jm0jiu6Ktc&mode=related&search=
Also, Bremner's Howard is spot on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEc1rVstvtA&mode=related&search=

CDM 23.03
The English are 83% of the population, but have only 81% of the seats in Westminster, pay about 90% of all tax and so on.
If you think that the Welsh secretary should speak Welsh (which the majority of the Welsh don't understand anyway) and so on, do you think that the Foreign Secretary ought to be able to speak every language in the world?

If one is responsible for a certain realm or territory, it is only reasonable that one speaks the native language.
So all Cabinet ministers should be fluent in Cornish? The minister responsible for Jersey must speak Jerriais and the minister responsible for Gibraltar must speak Yanito?
Don't be ridiculous.

He should have been able to sing along to the Welsh National anthem. He was the Welsh Sec for gods sake! It was a defining moment that for the public demonstrated we had lost all touch and were disinterested in them. It was unfortunate as John Redwood is a very capable man but hopefully we have learnt that certain things do matter,
