PoliticalBetting: A bad result for YouGov? [YouGov reported a slight edge for Huhne but that was three weeks ago.]
Guido - who predicted the outcome - is getting a little bit tipsy on his winnings...
Whilst Iain Dale has fallen asleep.
"William Hill believe the NEXT Lib Dem Leader will be Nick Clegg, and make him 3/1 favourite and also offer 5/1 that it is someone not even an MP at the moment; 6/1 Chris Huhne; 8/1 any female; 12/1 Simon Hughes; 12/1 Charles Kennedy; 16/1 Lembit Opek; 20/1 Mark Oaten."
It speaks volumes that William Hill have already opened a next LD leader market. (I assume there isn't a next Conservative leader market already?)
And they're off!

No odds on Mrs. Ming?

"No odds on Mrs. Ming?"
8/1 any female.

Nick Clegg would make a great leader. I first saw him on the Daily Politics where he demolished Andrew Neil.
If Ming is the Lib Dem equivalent of Howard. Clegg is their Cameron.
Happily we should be in Government by the time it happens.

Lets hope you're right Michael.
Perhaps we should consider who will replace Brown as Lab Leader. After all, if he loses to Cameron, he won't last long.

William Hill are not exactly generous with their odds are they? 16/1 Opik,20/1 Oaten!!!Perhaps they might give us 25/1 on Jeremy Thorpe making a comeback!

He nearly sent me to sleep on Newsnight last night. He needs to secure the deputy leader position to improve his chances - I'd say Huhne's odds are pretty generous at the moment given that he has stolen a march on the other potential contenders already and if Huhne won the deputy leadership, he would effectively be leader-in-waiting, like when the Soviets had a habit of being led by frail coffin-dodgers with the Grim Reaper waiting just around the corner.

That was my first reaction, although the 6/1 odds on Huhne look quite generous, and 12/1 on Kennedy could be a good outside bet too. I'm a little disappointed that no odds are listed for John Hemming.

I can't see anyone betting on Oaten.

I posted this comment on politicalbetting.
It was his nine houses plus his other investments that did it for Huhne.

Hey, I broke the actual result first! ;o)
Got to be good news for the Tories - how aged did Ming look during his victory speech?!

I am estatic that dear old ming has won! If the recent past performances are anything to go by, thats one lot of polls we can forget about, once a few more PMQs have passed by.He is very airy. Probably that that made him a good runner in his youth.
