My understanding is that he'll be there for 48 hours, meeting members of the Cabinet, including the Prime Minister. I'm honoured to have been invited to meet him myself and will be producing a feature for ConservativeHome on Mr Abbott's conservatism.

Abbott changed the course of his party when he took over its leadership at the end of last year. The Australian Liberals had been heading for a loss of seats but he turned things round and the ruling Labor party became the first, first term Australian government in modern times to lose its majority. He was the model Leader of Opposition, offering a sharply-defined conservatism. Australian Labor is currently governing on the back of votes from a handful of maverick independent MPs.
