5.30 update: I gather that Conor Burns has also been appointed as a PPS - to Hugo Swire, the Northern Ireland Minister.  Jonathan's last post on recent PPS appointments can be found here.

Congratulations to Eric Ollerenshaw, MP for Lancaster and Fleetwood, whose promotion has just been announced by CCHQ.

When the dust's settled, it will probably win the award for Least Surprising PPS Appointment.  Ollerenshaw was Warsi's Chief of Staff during the last Parliament, and the two have worked closely together during recent years.

I was part of a common front bench team with them both, and believe that he'll be an extremely effective pair of eyes and ears in the Commons.
