A narrative for this government (#1)
By Tim Montgomerie
Bruce Anderson recently wrote in the FT (£) that the government lacks a narrative. What should it be?
Over the next few days ConHome will be publishing fifty-or-so word attempts to suggest such a narrative.
Paul Goodman, Jonathan Isaby, Charles Moore and Max Wind-Cowie will all be offering drafts.
Mine is below:
"Anyone who wants to succeed in life needs three things. A good education. Regular paid work. A strong family. This is common sense to most people but the last Labour government got in the way of people who did the right thing. This Coalition government is different. If you study hard, work hard and look after your family this new government will reward you."
