William Hague given vote of confidence by Tory members

By Tim Montgomerie

9291 It has been a difficult few days for William and Ffion Hague. Very difficult, too, for Christopher Myers who, I hope, will soon find new and fulfilling work. He and his family were, I understand, at the centre of a very intrusive tabloid operation.

Tory members provide the Foreign Secretary with some cheer this afternoon, however. More than a thousand have voted so far in today's ConservativeHome survey and they continue to give Mr Hague very high satisfaction ratings. 92% were satisfied with the Foreign Secretary's performance last month and a statistically identical 91% this month*. Given what he wrote this morning, I'm not sure that John Redwood was one of the satisfied, however.

* All voting has taken place today.
