You don't go into politics to make money these days. You leave politics to make money.

The overall cost of special Advisers is £1.9m less than under Labour. I'd rather spend that £1.9m on ensuring many more ministers had their policy advisors alongside them. There are some very powerful examples of incredibly able researchers who have not been able to follow their MPs into government, even though they know their briefs back-to-front. The economising on SpAds (Special Advisers) is a classic example of being penny wise but pound foolish.
