No honeymoon in opinion polls for Conservatives

ComResComRes for the Independent on Sunday also tested a number of budget-related choices:

  • 53% agree that “Child benefit should be withdrawn from better-off families”. 42% disagree.
  • 39% agree that “The winter fuel allowance should be withdrawn from better-off elderly people”. 58% disagree.
  • 48% agree “I would be prepared to pay more income tax rather than see public services cut”. 45% disagree. Something of a loaded question!
  • 38% agree "The coalition government is deliberately exaggerating the financial problems to justify cuts to the public sector”. 49% disagree.
