Tory shadows who haven't made it into government

The list so far:

  1. Adam Afriyie
  2. James Brokenshire
  3. David Burrowes
  4. Tobias Ellwood
  5. Greg Hands
  6. Stewart Jackson
  7. Mark Lancaster
  8. Eleanor Laing
  9. Keith Simpson
  10. Ben Wallace

Tory MPs are also noting that none of the people who have fallen out of favour in the last five years have been rehabilitated with the exception of Hugo Swire, a long-time friend of Cameron. There is no welcome back, for example, for the likes of David Davis, Mark Field, Bernard Jenkin or Patrick Mercer. "Cameron doesn't do forgiveness unless it's the mates who f**ked up the election result," said one MP. The same MP noted that the only two shadow cabinet ministers who spoke about against a referendum on AV - Theresa Villiers and Chris Grayling - lost their shadow cabinet positions.

My guess is that the country will love the novelty of The Coalition for some time and that will overwhelm any discontent on the backbenches.
