Fuller list of junior appointments
Wedensday 11pm update:
I have delayed my final analysis of what happened to the pre-election frontbench again as news of another appointment reaches me.
Three or four days after the rest of his departmental colleagues were appointed, it turns out that James Brokenshire was yesterday made a Home Office minister, taking on board the portfolio for crime reduction which he held in opposition.
Will there yet more appointments announced? There certainly remain individuals who I gather will be appointed to the Lords in order to become ministers whose names are yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, rumours abound of former shadow ministers who were not appointed fully fledged ministers being made PPS to the relevant Secretary of State for the department they were shadowing...
Wednesday 4.45pm update:
According to a circular sent around to Conservative MPs, the remaining Conservative whips are confirmed as:
- Michael Fabricant
- Angela Watkinson
- Brooks Newmark
- Jeremy Wright
- James Duddridge
- Phillip Dunne
- Robert Goodwill
- Bill Wiggin
- Stephen Crabb
- Shailesh Vara
- Chloe Smith
I gather that the additional Lib Dem whips will be Norman Lamb and Mark Hunter.
My full analysis of what happened to the pre-election frontbench will follow later.
Monday 9.15pm update
The Standard's Paul Waugh has tweeted the following rumoured appointments to the Government Whips' Office:
- Stephen Crabb
- James Duddridge
- Brooks Newmark
- Chloe Smith
- Shailesh Vara
- Angela Watkinson
- Bill Wiggin
- Jeremy Wright
My sources suggest these are accurate, with rumours that Philip Dunne, Michael Fabricant and Robert Goodwill may also be in the frame.
Downing Street tell me that the official announcement of these and other remaining appointments will finally be announced tomorrow. When the announcement is made, I will publish my promised analysis of how the pre-election frontbench fared.
