Eric Pickles welcomes the Queen to CCHQ

Picture 11
ConHome has previously wondered whether town halls around the country had a portrait of the Queen on display.

Such a question no longer need be asked at Conservative Campaign Headquarters: as our picture shows, party chairman Eric Pickles has now put up a portrait of Her Majesty in the building.

He told ConservativeHome:

"The British people have great pride in Her Majesty The Queen and the role she plays as our head of state. She champions a united British identity across all colours, creeds, politics and backgrounds. At a time when the cohesion of our communities is under attack from religious and racist extremists, every company and every institution should consider putting up a portrait. It helps remind us that we are a United Kingdom in name and practice."
