More expenses revelations
Apologies for gap in service. Jonathan and I were both at Conservative Friends of Israel lunch. Continuing from the earlier thread...
The top news is probably that Cameron will repay £947 to the Commons Fees Office that he wrongly claimed on expenses (this includes £680 that he promised to repay last month for removing wisteria and other works to his house). See Sky News.
At 3.10pm on Thursday, the allowances for Gareth Thomas MP (Harrow West) and a Government Minister have still to be published by Parliament. Odd.
Secretary of State for Scotland Jim Murphy claimed £594.55 for Christmas Cards.
In 2005 Douglas Alexander claimed £9.20 for a box of latex gloves.
In 2007, Alan Johnson spent £8289.04 of public money on a device to fold paper and insert it into envelopes. It is capable of filling and sealing up to 2,200 envelopes an hour.
