Tory MP Andrew Percy wants US-style chain gangs to clear rubbish from Yorkshire's roadsides

Tory MP for Brigg and Goole Andrew Percy has called on prisoners to clear up the rubbish that is piling up on the roadsides. Speaking to the Yorkshire Post he said:

“The A63 is the main road between Hull and Goole – when people coming off the ferries see it, it makes it look as if we don’t care about the area. In the US I have seen chain gangs out clearing highways – why can’t we do that here? We have criminals expected to pay back – why not get them out there doing something of use?"
