Enfield Conservatives campaign against Labour council's Sunday parking charges

Are parking charge increases the new Council Tax increases?

Given that overwhelmingly councils have frozen Council Tax for the second year running some have been looking at the alternative means of raising revenue by increasing parking charges.

Sometimes there will be a justification with a genuine scarcity of places. But that isn't generally the case on a Sunday morning. Therefore councils bringing in "pray and display" charges that punish church goers will rightly find themselves subject to criticism.

So Enfield Conservatives are to be commended for their campaign against the local Labour council increasing parking charges in this way. It also offers a practical way for Conservatives to connect with local churches.
