This week's local by-election results are:

South Oxfordshire District - Chinnor:

Con 591 (48.3%, -1.4), Ind 449 (36.7%, +1.8), Lab 184 (15%, -0.4)

Con hold. Swing of 1.6% Con to Ind.

Newcastle-under-Lyme District - Kidsgrove:

Lab 639 (68.1%, +1.8), Con 121 (12.9%, +0.3), LD 105 (11.2%, -0.9), TUSC 73 (7.8%, -1.2).

Lab hold. Swing of 0.8% Con to Lab.

Argyll & Bute - Dunoon:

1 SNP and 2 Ind councillors elected (same as in 2007).
