Humfrey Malins seeking to stand as Police Commissioner for Surrey

The former Conservative MP for Woking and Shadow Home Affairs spokesman, Humfrey Malins, has indicated he is interested in becoming the Conservative candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey.

He says:

“I have lived in Surrey for 45 years, represented a Parliamentary seat here and have a huge interest in the field of criminal justice.

“I have got some definite ideas about policing and I know all those involved in the sharp end and have, I hope, plenty to contribute.

“The public need a strong, experienced candidate who can make a difference – anybody elected to the role is certainly not going to be party political.”

Good for him. But let's hear what his "definite ideas" are.

A potential rival is Cllr Andrew Povey, the former leader of Surrey County Council.
