Brentwood to cut the Council Tax by 2.1%

Congratulations to Cllr Louise McKinlay, the leader of Conservative-run Brentwood Council and her team on achieving a 2.1% reduction in Council Tax. At the same time spending on front line services is being increased. Big savings have resulted from sharing back office services with Essex County Council.

Brentwood also shared a chief executive - they will now save more by not having a chief executive at all. Councillor allowances are being cut.

Brentwood was recently rated the fifth best place to live out of 405 local authority areas.

The Lib Dem councillors voted in favour of the budget. The only Labour councillor in the borough said he was in favour of the Council Tax cut - but voted against it.
