Bournemouth Council leader resigns

Cllr Paul Charon is resigning as the Conservative leader of Bournemouth Borough Council. This follows a vote of no confidence from the Conservative Group. He has already stood down as leader of the Conservative Group who will choose a new leader on February 13th - who should then become the Council leader on February 21st when the choice is due to be ratified at a full council meeting.

While I have no inside knowledge on the matter it would appear that the dispute is about style rather than substance, personality rather than policy. This seems to often be the case among Conservative councillors having disputes.

As I have not Cllr Charon I can't comment on his personality. But under his leadership the Conservatives were able to take a record of achievement to residents in the elections last year. The Conservatives made sweeping gains in those elections.
