Cornish nationalist defects to Conservatives

It's all happening in Cornwall. First we have Cllr Jan Powell defects from the Conservatives to the Lib Dems. Now Cllr Loic Rich has defected from Mebyon Kernow, a Cornish nationalist grouping, to the Conservatives.

Cllr Rich says:

"I found it very frustrating being in a party that, along with the opposition parties, seemed to be in deliberate denial of the UK's economic and social needs."

When I was on holiday on Polzeath in January I was asked if I had come from England which rather brought home the strength of Cornish identity.

Welcome aboard to Cllr Rich.
