Senior Shropshire Council managers agree to 5% pay cut

Senior Council Officers on Conservative controlled Shropshire Council are taking a 5% pay cut. This follows a cut in councillor allowances by 5%.

The money saved will set up a charitable trust to help young people. The initial endowment being around £30,000.

Council leader Cllr Keith Barrow said:

"5% sounds like a lot but in monetary terms it would just disappear into our budget. So what we're doing is we're putting the money into a charity which will help provide an education for young people in Shropshire in care to help them develop and give them a future."
