Manchester Labour councillors condemn budget - two days early

Labour-run Manchester City Council has confirmed its reputation as the most cynical council in Britain.

This the a motion submitted for their next council meeting. The deadline was Monday:

  13. Motion – George Osborne’s Budget

Council notes the damaging impact of George Osborne’s budget on the people of Manchester.

Signed by:  Councillors:  Leese (proposer), Karney (seconder), Priest, J Battle, N Murphy, Evans, Andrews

Manchester is, of course, notorious as a council cutting front line services while continuing to waste huge sums. Street cleaning, libraries and grants to voluntary groups are being slashed. £500,000 a year trade union funding and a chauffeur driven car for the council leader are retained.
