Suffolk County Council abandons speed cameras

Suffolk County Council is the latest to withdraw funding for speed cameras. It means the cameras are likely to go although those who operate them are looking for alternative funding. Several other counties have done the same, or are planning to.

The only problem is Suffolk are doing this for the wrong reasons - with "regret" to save money.

The point is that speed cameras are not valid as a road safety measure. This has been detailed several times on this site. For instance here and here.

Swindon, by contrast, are doing the right thing for the right reasons.
