Fortnightly bin collections cause festive rubbish crisis

The combination of snow, extra rubbish to throw away over Christmas and extra holidays over the festive season have caused a "rubbish crisis" in some areas according to the Daily Mail.

The problem is where councils are only holding fortnightly bin collections at the best of times.

Areas named by the council as being in serious difficulty are Birmingham, North Somerset, Exeter, Epping Forest, Poole, Warrington, High Wycombe, Haringey, Harrow, Lincolnshire, Cheltenham, Liverpool, Wirral, St Helens, Kirklees, Leeds, Bradford, Milton Keynes, Derbyshire, Cardiff, Caerphilly, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Conwy and Thurrock.
