More Council Chief Execs take pay cuts

I don't think that legally a Council can force its Chief Executive to take a pay cut but there are some examples coming in of CEOs voluntarily agreeing to the request from Eric Pickles to take a 5% pay cut if they are earning over £150,000.

The Western Morning News reports that Phil Norrey, the Chief Executive of Devon County Council, has already taken a 5%  cut on his £157,000 salary. Kevin Lavery,  the Chief Executive of Cornwall Council, is taking a 5% cut of his £200,000 salary from tomorrow. The CEOs at Plymouth and Torbay have refused the request. Last week I reported that the Chief Executive at Mid Sussex District Council had taken a "significant" pay cut.
