The battle for Tamworth

Tamworth has a Conservative council. A third of the seats are up for election on Thursday.

The Tamworth constituency is our 52nd target seat. There are 16 relevant wards some of which come under Lichfield. The last time they came up for election the Conservatives won 14 of them, Labour won one of them and one was a Con/Lib Dem split. I say "they came up for election" rather than "were contested" but most of Lichfield wards saw the Conservative candidates returned unopposed. These looks a very weak position for Labour to be defending this seat. Good luck to the Conservative candidate Christopher Pincher.
