The battle for Barrow-in-Furness

Barrow-in-Furness Borough Council has a minority Conservative administration. A third of the seats are up for election on May 6. This year they achieved a freeze in the Council Tax. The Lib Dems are not even fielding candidates in 11 out of the 12 wards up for election this year.

The Barrow-in-Furness constituency has the same boundaries as the Council. It is our 115th target seat. Of the 13 wards in question five went to the Conservatives when last contested. One was a Conservative/Independent split. One a Conservative/Labour split. One an Independent/Lib Dem split. One a Lab/Peoples Party of Furness split. Two went to Independents. One to the Peoples Party of Furness and just one ward was won entirely by Labour.

Good luck to our candidate John Gough who was chosen a an open primary.
