Yesterday's local government by-election results

Further to the one by-election held on Tuesday, here are results from the three contests held yesterday:

Newchapel ward, Newcastle-under-Lyme
Con - 208 (33%, -2)
UKIP - 148 (24%, +9)
Lab  - 138 (22%, -7)
Lib Dem - 127 (20%, -1)
Con hold

Queen’s Parks ward, Blackburn with Darwen
Lab - 638 (54%, +12)
Lib Dem - 366 (31%, -12)
Con - 174 (15%, no change)
Lab gain from Ind (councillor causing by-election was elected as a Lib Dem but later expelled from the group)

Holmewood and Heath ward, North East Derbyshire
Lab - 373 (64%, -36)
Con - 209 (36%, +36)
Lab gain from Lib Dem (two Labour councillors were elected unopposed in 2007, but a Lib Dem gained this seat in a by-election in 2008)
