Merton propose 1.4% Council Tax cut

Congratulations to Merton Council, a minority Conservative administration, which is proposing to cut the Council Tax by 1.4%. Of course this is subject to the Budget being voted through by the full council.

The Council leader Cllr David Williams stresses the importance of cutting Council Tax to help those struggling  through recession.

He says:

“All council tax payers will be receiving a reduction, and over the course of the four years we have been in power any overall increase will be under the rate of inflation. In real terms, that’s a reduction in council tax.”

I'm hoping someone from Merton will be able to write a piece for us about it,
