Conservatives set to gain Cumbria

The Labour-run Council which everyone except Conservative Home forgot about was Cumbria. We started out with 32 seats to Labour's 39 and 11 for the Lib Dems. From the results so far it seems pretty likely that the minority Labour administration there will be swept away. The Conservatives have 23 seats to 15 for Labour so far. Most impressive have been five gains in the Barrow-in-Furness district taking the Conservative seats from one to six. This is no firmly Conservative territory. John Hutton is jumping before he is pushed.

There are 37 results to come.
