Congratulations to the new Conservative councillors

The BBC hasn't got all the results included in their table at the time of writing (for instance they haven't got round to including Shropshire where we have had 54 councillors elected.) But their tally at the moment shows 1,330 Conservative councillors with 217 net gains. Given that many sitting Conservative councillors will have stood down there will be hundreds of new Conservative councillors elected on Thursday. Congratulations and welcome aboard. Please send me articles (around 500 words long) to put up on this site letting me know how you get on.

The Local Government section of Conservative Home had over 17,000 hits yesterday - a record for this section of this site. Many thanks to all those who commented on posts and emailed me with breaking news.
