Hounslow Labour councillor fined £1,000 for planning breach

Cllr Jiwan Virk, a Labour councillor in Hounslow, has been fined £1,000 after converting a family house into flats without permission and ignoring requests to reverse the changes - which had includedadding a porch extension.

The Labour Group leader Cllr Jagdish Sharma says Cllr Virk "deserves punishment" but it has not been specified. Should a councillor in this position have their allowances suspended? Should they have the whip withdrawn?
