Council by-election results for 30th April 2009

There were four local by-election contests yesterday:

East Ecclesfield ward, Sheffield
LD - 2,239 votes - 44% (+1)
Lab - 1,420 - 28% (-2)
BNP - 716 - 14% (+1)
Con - 564 - 11% (-)
Green - 107 - 2% (-1)
Lib Dem hold

Staple Tye ward, Harlow
LD - 604 votes - 39% (+6)
Con - 544 - 35% (-16)
Lab - 329 - 21% (+5)
UKIP - 66 - 4% (+4)
Lib Dem gain from Con (who latterly sat as an Independent after being expelled from the party)

Tadworth and Walton ward, Reigate & Banstead
Con - 925 votes - 64% (-2)
UKIP - 350 - 24% (+10)
Lab - 163 -11% (+11)
(LD did not stand)
Con hold

Bannockburn ward, Stirling
