Fill the potholes

Councils can expect an increasing number of complaints and compensation claims over potholes. The combination of a wet summer followed by a cold winter has damaged road surfaces. The insurers Warranty Direct estimate that potholes cause a £1 million of damage to vehicles a day. They have started a new website to help people complain.

I've written a piece this morning for the Daily Mail's website suggesting that Councils stop putting down humps and use the money saved to fill potholes. During research for that I cam across another website called fillahole.org.uk which includes a "League Table" of the number of potholes in different council areas and the performance of the Council in filling those reported. It's a bit rough and ready as a guide, as naturally Councils with lots of road will tend to have more potholes than Councils with less road. But still of some interest.
