DCLG failing on procurement efficiency.

The Financial Times reports today:

"The Department for Communities and Local Government - whose ministers regularly lecture local authorities on efficiency in buying goods and services - has emerged near the bottom of a league table of Whitehall departments' procurement skills. Only the justice department came lower."

The report adds that according to John Cridland, the CBI Director General, £2.5 billion in public spending could be saved across central Government by reducing procurement delays and sharing services.
