Essex change planning rules to ensure bigger garages

There is a report in The Times today about Essex Council changing their planning guidelines to ensure more generous sized garages in new housing estates. They will now have to be at least 23ft by 10ft. The aim is to get cars off streets and in garages. Cllr John Jowers, the Cabinet Member for Planning, says: "Rationing parking spaces doesn't stop people owning cars, it just means they park where it is most inconvenient for everyone else."
