Where are the gritters councillor?

Ping. An email arrives at 7.20 this morning. "Where are the gritters councillor?"

We have nine caged tippers out with salt on board to the grit the priority footpaths e.g outside stations, hospitals and old people's homes etc. They will also have about 25 hand barrow operatives working out from Ravenscourt and Normand Parks carrying out gritting duties locally on the footpaths.

My borough has two road gritters.  One is out now – the other broke down last night but should be fixed by this afternoon. Priority roads are being gritted as a start to keep traffic moving through the borough.

How are you coping on your patch? Are the schools closed? What are the lessons? For instance should Councils keep a list of volunteers willing to help scatter grit on such occasions?
