Cllr Nigel Petrie, who is both a borough councillor on Epsom and Ewell and a Surrey County councillor, has joined the Conservatives. He was previously a Residents Association councillor. The RA have controlled Epsom and Ewell Council for 70 years.Cllr Petrie has served for 22 years and is a former Mayor.
The defection has been welcomed by the local MP, the Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling.
