That at any rate is the description given to Peter Lilley, the mild-mannered former Cabinet Minister, by the Labour MP Alan Whitehead.

Why? Because Mr Lilley is a climate change sceptic - see this article by him on ConservativeHome about the Stern Report - and has just been elected to the Climate Change Select Committe, of which Mr Whitehead is a member.

We completely understand why Mr Whitehead sees a different view from his, no matter how reasonably expressed, as one better not represented on the committee.  Heaven forbid that its consensus might be disturbed in any way.

Mr Whitehead also said that Mr Lilley's election was "sticking two fingers up" to the committee. Nice to see you too, Alan!
