A super tax on the mining industry is breaking Australia's Labour government

Earlier this week ConservativeInternational noted how the next Australian election had become unexpectedly close. The smart money must still favour the re-election of the foul-mouthed Kevin Rudd but his record levels of popularity have disappeared. There are many reasons for Rudd's decline and the Liberals' rise but near the top of the list is a proposed super tax on the mining industry (vital to raw material-rich Australia).
