As well as being top of the shadow cabinet satisfaction league, William Hague is the members' choice to be Tory leader if David Cameron fell under the proverbial bus.
ConHome discussed this possibility recently after a speculative OpEd by John Rentoul in the Independent on Sunday.
Perhaps I am missing something but exactly WHAT is the appeal of Wiliam Hague to so many who post to CH?
I can remember when he burst on the scene at the Party Conference many years ago now. That cocky know-it-all youngster with the very irritating voice. I also remember his silly bragging about drinking many pints of beer when a drayman and the baseball cap which simply looked ridiculous. The Electorate thought likewise when under his leadership the Party got the second worst result in recent history in 2001. Sorry, I don't rate Hague at all and would detest having him again as Party Leader. May God protect and preserve David Cameron!
