This afternoon, Conservatives in Salford and Eccles have selected Matthew Sephton to fight the constituency at the general election.
Matthew is chairman of LGBTory and a musician and qualified teacher. He occasionally blogs here.
Salford and Eccles is a completely redrawn seat, taking about 38,000 voters from Hazel Blears' existing Salford constituency and 35,000 voters from the existing Eccles constituency. Blears will defend a notional majority of 10,707 over the Lib Dems, with the Conservatives starting in third place with 16.9% of the vote.
