Dr Daniel Poulter was last night selected for the Tory-held seat of Central Suffolk and Ipswich North. The retiring MP Michael Lord bequeaths a notional majority over Labour of 7,809 to his successor.
It was a close contest; Dr Poulter only emerged victorious in the fourth and final round of voting. Headmaster Tim Clark was eliminated at that final stage.
There is a lot more information about Dr Poulter on his personal website.
The East Anglian Daily Press has this report on the selection.
