After the success of an all-postal ballot in Totnes in the summer, David Cameron announced at his press conference yesterday morning that the party would shortly be announcing two further proper all-postal pirmaries.
ConservativeHome can reveal this morning that the first of these will be taking place in Gosport, the constituency where retiring MP Sir Peter Viggers infamously claimed for a duck house.
Six candidates will be narrowed down to four by the local association, with the primary ballot being launched on November 12th. December 3rd November 20th will see a public hustings, with December 4th being the deadline for the return of ballot papers, followed by the count.
10am update: Eric Pickles has officially confirmed this news:
"I hope this will build on the success of Totnes. It's vital that we continue to empower local people and allow them to have the final say. I hope this will encourage people in Gosport not previously interested in politics to get involved and get their voice heard."
