Leicester Conservatives met last night and chose the following three General Election candidates:
- Leicester South - Ross Grant (pictured) (blog) - Peter Soulsby has a projected majority of 3,725 over the Liberal Democrats
- Leicester West - Celia Harvey - Patricia Hewitt (who is stepping down) has a projected majority of 7,246. Celia Harvey, 46, who was born in Leicester has had a successful lecturing career and has several academic publications to her name in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. She has had a parallel career as an Officer in the Territorial Army. She is married to John, who is a Town and District Councillor and they have a seven year old daughter called Rosie.
- Leicester East - Jane Hunt - Keith Vaz enjoys a projected majority of 17,696. Jane lives in Leicestershire and is a Borough Councillor at Charnwood Borough Council. She is married with two children. She has campaigned for the Conservatives for many years and is looking forward to working with the people in Leicester East, on issues such as the NHS, crime, employment amongst young people in the city, and on-street parking.
Best wishes to all three.
