No. 25: Simon Mort
Steve Bell writes:
"I would like to nominate Simon Mort for the following reasons.
"There are few who could have shown more loyal service and dedication to the Conservative party than Simon Mort. He has been part of the grassroots for over three decades and has held every voluntary appointment from Branch Chairman to President of the National Convention."He leads by example. He has integrity, intelligence, wisdom, boundless energy and he is not afraid to speak his mind. He served for four years on the Board in critical roles, at a time when the Party’s fortunes were turned around, and was Chairman of the notably successful Blackpool Conference.
"He has helped ensure that the Conservative message gets spread well beyond the meeting rooms of Whitehall. He has held party responsibilities in important regions from Lands End to Berwick-on-Tweed. Plus, he has a long and distinguished record within the Oxfordshire Conservatives, where he defended the Conservative Oxford City Council reputation during the 1990s, a difficult time for Party.
"He is a faithful proven fighter, an unsung hero should be given a voice in the Lords."
