Cllr Bob Blackman, Deputy Leader of the Conservatives on Brent Council survived a vote of no confidence last night at a Special General Meeting of the Harrow East Conservative Association.
There have been worries about Cllr Blackman's alleged underperformance for some time - worries that reached fever pitch on 2nd May when, against the London-wide trend, he lost his seat on the GLA.
Our double reports from last night's meeting suggest that Cllr Blackman has lost the support of the Association's most active members but retains majority support from the wider Association.
There will be disappointment in CCHQ, which had hoped the deselection efforts would be successful.
We have emailed Bob Blackman inviting him to send us a statement.
