Boris Johnson has told the Oxford Mail that he will quit as MP for Henley if he ousts Ken Livingstone as London Mayor on 1st May.
This will produce an unwelcome by-election for the Conservatives although CCHQ would probably see it as an opportunity to promote one of its new A-list faces.
At the last General Election the LibDems were in second place with 26%
of the vote. Boris Johnson won more than twice as many votes - 24,894
or 53.5% of the total.
